Assuming this relates to a question I raised about having a prescription sent to me in Scotland….
The person I spoke to was helpful, pleasant, and did her job well. However the information was I think incorrect (not her fault that the correct info was unknown). I was told that a prescription could not be sent to me because NHS Scotland is different from NHS England. While that is true, there are ways that an English prescription can be presented in Scotland, I have more than once taken a prescription with me to Edinburgh and local pharmacies have known the method of ‘charging across’ between the two health services. I believe it is quite widely known and around border regions it must happen all the time with doctors in one country and under one national authority but the pharmacies in another and regularly serving GP surgeries both countries.

There is no particular reason why Markfield Medical Centre should have known that it’s OK to provide a prescription to one of their patients who will be in Scotland, but now that it’s been raised it would be good if the info was noted (and even better if the prescription (NB without the ‘Token’ stamp on) could now be sent to me as I’ll be away a while!).
If MMC wants to confirm, I believe the Business Manager at Forbes Road medical centre in Edinburgh is – or was – fully aware that it can be done, and of the method, as is Polwarth Pharmacy also of Edinburgh.
